Why Voting Matters?

Voting is the most direct way to shape the future of your community, your state, and your country. Every vote is a statement of your values—on healthcare, education, reproductive rights, public safety, and so much more. In local elections, a handful of votes can decide who sets your property taxes, what books your kids can read in school, or whether your neighborhood gets the investment it needs. Skipping an election hands that power to someone else. Participating means you’re claiming your stake in decisions that affect your everyday life.

In Texas, the stakes are especially high. For years, voter suppression tactics and gerrymandering have been used to silence voices—particularly in communities of color and among young people. That’s not an accident. It’s because your vote has power. When we vote, we push back against the status quo and demand a future rooted in equity, justice, and opportunity. Change doesn’t start in Washington—it starts right here at the local level. And it starts with you showing up at the ballot box.
